We're planning on flying my grandpa's remains here from the Philippines. I don't know when; I mean, it took us this long to finally finish the grave marker. We'll just have to see, I guess...
Have you ever seen an unmarked grave? It's incredibly sad when you see one; for me anyway. It makes me wonder why there wouldn't be one.
My mom told me a story about one of our relatives; my dad's uncle. He was a wealthy guy; good to his family. When my dad wanted to marry my mom, the family openly protested against it because he had already promised to marry one of his cousins in order to bring her here to the States. He was going to divorce her once she was here, but my dad - always the ever impatient idiot - didn't want to wait till then. So my dad's uncle gave him money to marry my mom. He said, "You want to get married? Damn them and do it anyway."
When my dad's uncle died, the family argued so much about his land and money that by the time it was all split up, there was nothing left to pay for his grave marker.
We visit my grandma's grave every Sunday; arrange new flowers for her; tend to the grass over her grave. Every now and then my dad will ask my mom for a flower from the bouquet and put it on his uncle's unmarked grave. I don't know, it just makes me think of how many unmarked graves are out there.
Anyway, gotta finish this grave marker picture so
till next time...
