Kiss By Ted Dekker

Image
Coming in December from Ted Dekker is the first novel he's co-written with Erin Healy. Here's the summary: After a car accident puts Shauna McAllister in a coma and wipes out six months of her memory, she returns to her childhood home to recover, but her arrival is fraught with confusion. Her estranged father, a senator bidding on the White House, and her abusive stepmother blame Shauna for the tragedy, which has left her beloved brother severely brain damaged. Leaning on Wayne Spade, a forgotten but hopeful lover who stays by her side, Shauna tries to sort out what happened that night by jarring her memory to life. Instead, she acquires a mysterious mental ability that will either lead her to truth or get her killed by the people trying to hide it. In this blind game of cat and mouse that states even the darkest memories in the face, Shauna is sure of only one thing: if she remembers, she dies.

2008 Confessions

So many taboos. "New Year's Resolutions" "Starting Over" Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah I hate it all. Why do people do it though?? Less than 5% of the American population actually pull through with their new year goals. But still, we all go through the motions of at least making one to say that we did since everyone else has. And, well, I have one too. But I plan to actually not just make it a New Year's Resolution, but a lifelong one. All my life I've always been the pretentious type. I always did my best to be sincere in all that I say. And...I've sincerely failed at it. See, I always thought that if you don't like a person but think in your head that you like them, you begin to naturally feel that way. You know, the whole mind over matter thing. But to be honest, I've grown to be such a fake person that sometimes I make myself sick just thinking about all the pretentious things I've said and done. I know I said I wouldn't tal...

Twilight fanatics...HAHAHAHAHA

Image
Wow, it's been an eternity and a day since i last posted. I think I was just so exhausted from looking at the screen everyday and reading comments, that I just decided to put this blog in the back of my mind. Sorry!!! Anyway, I know there's this whole Twilight craze going on. You guys have no idea how many times I heard, "Bite me Edward" in the past week...and the girls actually did this weird seductive thing. It's freakin' hilarious. I mean, I loved the books, (the last one is debatable) but I'm not so hot on the movie. I started reading before it became mainstream, and I gotta tell you, I'm the kind of person that likes to find something totally amazing but keep it to myself. It's like a great secret...I get a weird high from it. I'm a freak, I know. Well, I think the movie should be considered an entity by itself. We all should realize that the movie will never fully convey the book the way an individual imagines it. I mean, I totally though...

Last Words...

After this post, I will most likely not touch on the subject ever again. Please understand that I'm not homophobic (I have many gay, lesbian, and bisexual friends that I have come to love but still disagree with.), racist, or intolerant. At least I try my best not to be. But it grieves me so much that people still continue to argue with me in anger. I've been getting so many comments about my intolerance and ignorance of the rights of homosexuals to marriage. So much so that it's been mentally draining on me to respond to each of them. I'm truly sorry if I've angered many of you, and I hope you can come to forgive me. But for now, let's just agree to disagree . It is apparent that I cannot sway any of you; and it was never my intention. It's not my job to change your minds. That is between you and God. Anger does not allow one to think clearly. Instead, it turns us into creatures who rely just on emotion and not logic . Responding in anger wi...

Katrine

Thanks for continuing to respond on this issue. On your comment about the lawsuits, it has already happened. Now you can argue against it however many times you see fit, but the facts are there. If churches still have that 2nd amendment right, then why is Congress considering a law that won't even let preachers stand up at the podium and even read Romans 1 (which talks about marriage between a man and woman)? It has already happened in Canada where a preacher was arrested for preaching against homosexuality. And it will soon happen here. When I responded that gay couples would be going to churches to get married, I did forget about the marriage license in the process. I'm really sorry about that. You have a valid point there. However, there will be gay couples demanding to have the ceremony in churches that won't allow it. And there is a possibility that those churches will be sued. And your point about hating the sin not the sinner is also valid. However, that n...

To "No On Prop 8 okayyy"

I'm not a theologian or an expert on this issue. And I certainly don't have any significant authority that anyone including yourself should believe. However, I am entitled to a right to Truth. And (you can disagree with me on this completely) God's word is entirely true. From what you have commented on my blog, you appear to be in on Christianity. Nevertheless, let's be frank. How can you accept Truth and deny it in the same way? From my point of view (again, I'm sure there are others who don't see it this way) it seems that your reasoning is deeply fallible. Read the Bible. In the first chapter of Romans, Paul clearly states what God has ordained as marriage. Again, like I counter argued with Katrine, we can deliberate on the origins of marriage but that would probably not get us anywhere. You say that you're deeply disappointed. Well, I'm truly sorry to say; but I feel the same way about you. You cannot profess to love God and follow what Man...

FOR COREY

"That's all well and good, but you must be forgetting about the 2nd Amendment to the Constitution of the United States of America: Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; You see, when the government starts favoring any one group, others may be outcast. While this may get you want you want now, what's to say it doesn't bite you in the ass later? Really, Prop 8 shouldn't even be considered. It is completely unconstitutional. Also, when you think about it(if you disagree with Luther that thinking is a Sin) Prop 8 doesn't "protect" anything. All it does is remove people's rights. It's an oppressive law and nothing else. Last I checked, fascism was a bad thing." I'm curious to know what your reasoning is for your last sentences here. Prop 8 indeed does protect something. The Family. And where does it say that Luther taught that Thinking was a sin? I don't quite und...

FOR KATRINE

I'd like to leave a comment for Katrine. I'm curious as to why you think I'm Baptist. I don't think I ever mentioned that in any of my blogs and I don't profess to be one. However, I am a believer in Christ and I go to a Bible believing/preaching church that loves ALL people. If you'd like to know more about them, you can visit their website sometime. www.callonjesus.com And this hate you commented about..you are right about it. In that one perspective. However, you said that "they hate the law." Well, who creates the laws Katrine? People like you and me. So would it not make sense to logically conclude that in essence, they do hate us? What you said about it not hurting people...well, actually it does. My reference to extortion and murder was not one made without reason. Have you heard about children going to school and being forced to learn about homosexual marriage? Recently, a first grade class was taken on a field trip to a lesbian we...

I cried when I saw this

Image
One of my old classmates from Faith Baptist was burning Yes on Prop 8 signs recently. I was totally crying. I mean, do they really hate us that much? Well I can't hate them. I could never hate sinners. Because I'm one too. But I WILL stand for what is right. And a Yes on Prop 8 IS right. God created marriage to be between ONE man and ONE woman. And those who think otherwise are perverting and destroying the foundation upon which marriage was built. How much lower can we fall? As a society, what else will we say is okay? Homosexuality is a SIN. Should we say that murder is okay too? How about extortion and fraud? They are definitely sins, but people would say, "Well, it's right for them." "Equality for everyone." This isn't right, folks. Seriously, what would the patriarchs of this country say if they heard about this? I bet they'd be weeping too. I'm going to pray for the people who say No on Prop 8. I'm not going to ha...

Okay, don't even get me started on this one. I'll put up my views on Prop 8 later on since I gots a Homecoming to go to. But I will say this. There was a few gay weddings being held @ CSUN. Yea, ON CAMPUS. Sorry, but that totally ruined my day. And I'm talking the occasion, not the people there, okay? Write more laterrrr!!!!

Don't forget to vote.

no way...

Okay, this may seem REALLY REALLY REALLY juvenile (considering that I'm in college now), but I just received thEE most dramatic news in Faith Baptist history...well. I don't know that for sure, but it's pretty crazy. All right, you ready? GET THIS. Julieanne RASMUSSEN got expelled! Seriously! One of their own!! The Pastor's KID!! And for what heinous act has this girl been punished for??? What you prod??? A BOY. That's right. For doing "something" ( we know not) that deserved the ultimate punishment: EXPULSION. Now, my head is totally spinning, so I'll post more later. But on a lighter note: I've resolved to DEFINITELY find a job so that I can buy as much clothes as I can. Because God knows I love fashion and I'd like to lean on my own finances to do so. So if any of you reading this have a job opening you heard about in the West Hills/Canoga Park/Woodland Hills area, I'd be very appreciative! Alright folks!! PEACE!!
